Beauty from the inside out

Red light therapy has been widely adopted in leading beauty clinics and spas as one of the most reliable and clinically proven ways to treat the root causes of age-related appearance issues.

SOHL acts on multiple areas, one being the stimulation of collagen production, which provides skin with its structure and naturally declines as we age. Another is the production of fibroblasts – part of the connective tissue which makes collagen.

  •

    Collagen

Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and health of the skin. It provides structural support, enhancing the skin's firmness, elasticity, and overall texture.

SOHL's red light wavelengths activate fibroblasts, triggering cellular processes that boost collagen production. As a result, the skin becomes plumper and more supple, effectively reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The rejuvenating effects of increased collagen contribute to a smoother, more youthful complexion, restoring a natural radiance and vitality to the skin.

    Scar Tissue

Collagen plays a crucial role in wound healing and reducing scar tissue. During healing, fibroblasts migrate to the wound site. SOHL stimulates these fibroblasts to produce new collagen fibers, which help close the wound and promote tissue regeneration.

As the wound heals, the initial collagen fibers undergo remodeling, where they are rearranged and strengthened. This remodeling process helps reduce the visibility of the scar by aligning the collagen fibers and making them more similar to the surrounding skin.

Additionally, collagen helps regulate inflammation during the healing process. It provides a framework for immune cells to migrate and release important growth factors that support tissue repair and remodeling.

  • Eczema

Collagen and elastin aid in restoring the compromised skin barrier commonly seen in eczema, strengthening and repairing it.

Red light therapy reduces moisture loss and enhances protection against irritants by reinforcing the skin barrier. Additionally, red light therapy stimulates cellular regeneration and increases blood flow, minimizing the risk of infection and promoting wound healing. It offers relief from itchiness by modulating nerve activity and releasing natural pain-relieving compounds. By calming the immune response red light therapy alleviates redness and swelling.

  • Weight Loss

Red light therapy offers a multi-faceted approach to weight loss. It enhances cellular metabolism, specifically targeting fat cells by stimulating their mitochondria, leading to the release and conversion of stored fat into energy. Additionally, it improves blood flow and circulation, optimising nutrient and oxygen delivery to cells while aiding in the removal of waste products.

Phototherapy (red light therapy) enhanced the physical exercise effects in obese women undergoing weight loss treatment by 83% over the placebo group*.

    Cellulite

Red light therapy stimulates collagen synthesis, fortifying the skin's structure and potentially diminishing the dimpled appearance of cellulite. Furthermore, it promotes lymphatic system stimulation, supporting natural detoxification processes and reducing fluid accumulation that contributes to cellulite.

    Pigmentation

Red light therapy reduces the appearance of age spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone by promoting the regeneration of healthy skin cells. SOHL supports the production of new skin cells, which can replace damaged or discoloured cells, resulting in a more even complexion.

Clinical Experts Say...

  • "Red light therapy has been shown to reduce fat in stubborn areas such as the thighs, hips, and abdomen. It works by stimulating the mitochondria in fat cells to release their contents, resulting in a decrease in overall cell size".

Dr. Rachel Nazarian, a New York-based dermatologist and member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.
  • "Red light therapy has been proven to increase collagen production, enhance skin firmness, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, it can help improve overall skin texture and tone, making it a valuable tool in the beauty industry".

Dr. Michael Hamblin, a Harvard researcher who has extensively researched the effects of red light therapy on the skin.
  • "Red light therapy can help stimulate the body's natural healing processes and improve overall skin health, making it a valuable tool in the fight against acne, rosacea, and other common skin conditions".

Dr. Joshua Zeichner, a board-certified dermatologist and Director of Cosmetic and Clinical Research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is red light therapy different to laser therapy?

Laser therapy, also known as laser treatment, refers to the medical or cosmetic use of focused beams of laser light to treat various conditions. Laser therapy can be used for a wide range of purposes, including skin rejuvenation, hair removal, tattoo removal, scar reduction, acne
treatment, and even medical procedures like eye surgery.

Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes low-level lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to stimulate healing, reduce pain, and decrease inflammation. Unlike surgical lasers, which generate heat for tissue cutting or cauterization, red light therapy employs LED lights that does not generate significant heat. The specific wavelengths of light used in SOHL penetrate the skin and are absorbed by cells, initiating various cellular processes that promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and enhance cellular function. Red light therapy has proven effective for a wide range of applications.

Do SOHL panels have blue light spectrum?

The blue light spectrum (450nm to 495nm) is credited with antibacterial effects which are primarily localized on the surface of the skin. SOHL panels emit red and near-infrared light wavelengths which penetrate the skin to mobilize skin repair at a cellular level. Research indicates that while blue light can have antibacterial effects it can damage skin cells.

Is a face mask better than a panel?

By design face masks only treat the face area, whereas SOHL panels have been engineered for versatility to treat the face area as well as any other body area. Most owners find this beneficial for their own multi-use, as well as for use by their family, friends, or even pets.

Does red light therapy tan skin?

No, red light therapy does not tan the skin. The primary purpose of red light therapy is not to stimulate melanin production, which is responsible for skin pigmentation and tanning. Instead, red light therapy focuses on promoting various cellular processes, such as collagen production, wound healing, and reducing inflammation. While red light therapy can improve the appearance of the skin and enhance its overall health, it does not darken or tan the skin like traditional tanning methods or exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Is red light therapy known by other names?

Yes, red light therapy (RLT) is known by several other names, including low-level laser therapy (LLLT), photobiomodulation (PBM), phototherapy, light therapy, and LED therapy. These terms are often used interchangeably to describe the therapeutic use of specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light for various health and cosmetic benefits.

How long should a SOHL session be?

Check the "Dosage Guidelines" section in this website.

SOHL red light therapy panels come in sizes for treating specific body areas, or full-body coverage.

Testimonials

Kade's mother says: "The doctor treating Kade's scar was amazed at how fast it had healed. I'm an ambulance officer with first aid experience and believe treating the scar with SOHL two times a day reduced inflammation and sped up the healing".

Amber J

I’ve suffered from eczema since as long as I can remember and always struggled to find something that helped. I have spent thousands of dollars on different creams, medications, and specialists without finding anything that has helped me long term. When using the red and infrared light therapy I started to notice improvement within 2 weeks, inflation reduced and my skin wasn’t as irritated and angry. I loved how it was so easy to incorporate into my daily routine and was super easy to use. For such a small portion of my day
I noticed huge results. I would highly recommend this product to anyone suffering chronic skin issues that are struggling to find something that works.
